The filial son Barry Yap needed a short break and
have decided to go Cameron for some fresh air... with his mum!

Feeling guilty that I might have neglected my parents with my after-work activities,
I asked for Barry's permission if I could tag along... with my parents!

Barry said yes.
Mum said yes.
Dad said no.
He wanted to keep Lexie company at home.

So we went... bringing both the Mrs. Yap to Cameron.

On the way there, we stopped at Tapah R&R (on renovation now),
and I gotten one of my favourite fruit - pomelo!

I've always loved the juicy pomelo, and the sweet smell of the pomelo skin.
Do you know that pomelo skin can help to get rid of mosquitoes and bugs?
Keep it in your closet and voila.. bugs off!

Pomelo skin - if cut nicely, can be a good looking hat too!
Proven with the below photo... (laughing off holding my stomach in pain)

Night came and cooling weather come greeting us.
Good weather to have hot steamboat with fresh vegetables from Cameron.

Walked thru a few shops and saw Winnie.
Found out that her dad is the owner of SilverStar Hotel & Steamboat.
Our dinner place is set then! :)

Had charcoal steamboat there.
Yuhmieee.. love the fresh ingredients!

One thing that I would think twice while taking charcoal steamboat
is when the black charcoal bits flew down from the 'chimney'.

It's very unhealthy and it is advisable to scoop it out from the soup.

Thank you Winnie for your kind hospitality! :)

It's funny how having mum to nag me about having sleeveless attire in Cameron.
Then both of them nag Barry about not bringing any sweater / jacket.
Mums.... *sigh*

The next day we followed Hill Top Travel & Tours for a full day tour.
Hill Top Travel & Tours are easily recognized by their 4x4 Land Rover,
it has got a big cow's horn.

Feeling adventurous, we took the De' Rainforest Seeker's package
which itinerary is to visit..
  • Gunung Brinchang (6,666 ft)
  • Short trekking to Mossy Forest (oldest forest in Cameron)
  • Tea Plantation & Factory
  • Butterfly Farm
  • Waterfall
Wanted to see The World's Biggest Flower - Rafflesia,
but was told that it is not in the season.

Took the front seat in the Land Rover for better photo taking opportunities

Photos of Hill Top Land Rover, the view tower of Gunung Brinchang,
the famous traffic jam in the one lane road to Teh Boh Plantation,
and our impatient driver who eventually stepped out to help in resolving the jam.

Mum and I bought a RM9.90 rubber shoe which is undeniably ugly looking,
but is sooooo comfy and has got super good grip during our trekking
at the short trail of Mossy Forest.
Everything we step on/ lean on / touch has got moss in it.
Those interested must definitely bring suitable shoe for the trekking.
Else, you can always wear the ugly looking shoe - get it from the shop beside Starbucks.

After huff and puff from the trekking,
we then proceed to the Butterfly Farm.

Aside from the beautiful butterflies,
our attention was caught by the Leaf Insects and Walking Sticks.

Leaf Insects is an insect that looked like a green leaf.
In fact, it was hard to distinguish it from the green leaves on the tree.

Another special insects there is called the Walking Stick.
It is a long insect with a body shape that mimics the branches.

Both the insects looks like part of the plant so that they can hide from birds and other predators.

How cool is that huh!!!

The beauty of nature to love, appreciate and maintain...

Plants and flowers also grow very well in the cool weather of Cameron.

Having refreshed eye-sight looking at the beautiful nature,
we were brought to a new waterfall site on the way down to Simpang Pulai.

To our dismay, it was raining heavily when approaching our destination.
We have got no choice but to turn around and opt for other place to visit.

Went to Time Tunnel, Local Market Square and Buddhist Temple.
All three places to make up for our disappointment not having to swim at the waterfall.

Our mums were pretty amazed and excited in the Time Tunnel.

They talked about how they used to see those items during their younger days.
And how their mothers, or grandmothers used to have those antique collections.

At the Buddhist Temple that we went to pray two years in a row.

When the night comes, we brought our mums to where we used to stay.

They loved it! Saying that they felt like their out far from Malaysia.

Oh ya, we stayed at The Heritage Hotel for two nights.
It was a decent and clean hotel with spacious room.
We were offered a free upgrade to Deluxe room - with two queen sized bed.

Enjoying my breakie..

And while our mums chat without a pause for the whole three days,
we were goofing around infront of the camera.

Sweet. Cute. Retarded.
You say it, we have it!

It was fun to have mommies around for holidays.
One of the best satisfaction is when we see that they truly enjoyed themselves.

Second satisfaction comes from eating.
Yeah, pastries like pie and sausage roll at Starbucks,
breads and tarts from Teh Boh Plantation,
and our must-have scones at Bharat Tea Plantation.

It was shame to know that my anticipated visit to The Starwberry Moment Cafe
for my chocolate fondue was forced to be cancelled as the cafe was closed.
Winnie said that the owner have earned enough money and do not need to go on with this business.

Pity... that's really a good place to have sweet desserts and fondue! :(

Nevertheless, just wanted to say THANK YOU to Barry for having us.

"Joyce is such a sad person, isn't it?"

Don't-lah misunderstand me.

Been wanting to post this song up few days back but I realized that other post is more important - like, about FOOD!

Just let me assure you that my sucky days are over. Am perfectly fine now... :)

Enjoy this song, and the meaningful lyrics.

"I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them. I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back. And it's not the end of the world".

quote about song music lyrics

Bonnie Raitt - I Can't Make You Love Me

Found another version sung by Adele live @ The Royal Albert Hall in 2011 during the iTunes Festival

Adele - I Can't Make You Love Me (Live) Itunes Festival 2011 HD

Bonnie Raitt I Can't Make You Love Me Lyrics

Turn down the lights, turn down the bed
Turn down these voices inside my head
Lay down with me, tell me no lies
Just hold me close, don't patronize - don't patronize me

Cause I can't make you love me if you don't
You can't make your heart feel something it won't
Here in the dark, in these final hours
I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power
But you won't, no you won't
'Cause I can't make you love me, if you don't

I'll close my eyes, then I won't see
The love you don't feel when you're holding me
Morning will come and I'll do what's right
Just give me till then to give up this fight
And I will give up this fight

Cause I can't make you love me if you don't
You can't make your heart feel something it won't
Here in the dark, in these lonely hours
I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power
But you won't, no you won't
'Cause I can't make you love me, if you don't

On the way to Banting from KESAS highway,
situated a new Thai Restaurant which is popular among foodies now.

Khunthai is not a new name to us.
They have branches in Kepong, Petaling Jaya, Butterworth and in the Penang island.
But... shame shame.. I've never tried it before.

This time around we decided to try out their newly opened branch at Klang.
It is after Parkland, same entry to Canary Garden.

The road entering to Canary Garden is pitch dark.
But it is reassuring to see Khunthai signboard along the straight road with palm tree on both sides.
Signboards showing Khunthai at 2km, 1km to 500m - to know that you are on the right track.

Arriving at the restaurant, you will be greeted by a kampung style pondok lighted with pretty small bulbs.
Accompanied with Thai songs that makes you feel like you're in Thailand.

Khunthai is popular for their grilled seafood too.
And this is where the grilling take place.

Spacious table setting at the restaurant.

Parents can enjoy their food while the little ones play in the kids section.

We are all set to see what Khunthai has to offer!

Oh yes the menu that shows varieties of Thailicious food!

Tomyam Mix Seafood soup is thick, flavorful and FIERY HOT!!!
I had it without rice - BIG MISTAKE!!!
The soup was burning from my lips, tip of my tongue, all the way to my tummy.
But there are plenty of seafood - the prawns and squids are all fresh and juicy.
Love the addition of oyster mushroom in the soup too!

Pucuk Paku Belacan carries the same amount of chili as the tomyam.
Belacan and chili fragrance has definitely add mark to this plate of vegetables.
But mind you, this is also VERY SPICY!!!

Pucuk Palu Belacan (small) RM10

Next on our order chit is the big combo plate of Steamed Squid and Lala in Lemon Sauce.
We should have pick only one instead of the combo plate.
The portion is way too big for us to finish.
The fresh lala and squid is steamed in lemon sauce.
It tasted sourish, and at the same time, SPICY!

We were contemplating either to order Green Curry Chicken,
but has then settled with Nameless Fried Chicken.
The nameless chicken is crunchy and seemed to be marinated with some spices before being deep fried.
Topped with fried onions, we were happily eating it, being the only non-spicy dish that night.

Look at Bernard enjoying the spiciness of the tomyam.
Took a puff from his ciggie and continue battling with the remaining dishes.

Barry was obviously sweating from the dinner.
Having spicy food every spoonful, this is a good exercise for him to sweat it all out!

Khunthai serves very good Thai food - just a little bit more spicy to my liking.
But those who enjoy spicy Thai food - this is the right place for you!

Christina Perri - Distance (Official Lyric Video)

CHRISTINA PERRI  DISTANCE LYRICS

The sun is filling up the room
And I can hear you dreaming
Do you feel the way I do right now?
I wish we would just give up
Cause the best part is falling
Call it anything but love

And I will make sure to keep my distance
Say "I love you" when you're not listening
How long can we keep this up, up, up?

And please don't stand so close to me
I'm having trouble breathing
I'm afraid of what you'll see right now
I give you everything I am
All my broken heart beats
Until I know you understand

And I will make sure to keep my distance
Say "I love you" when you're not listening
How long can we keep this up, up, up?

And I keep waiting
For you to take me
You keep waiting
To save what we have

So I'll make sure to keep my distance
Say "I love you" when you're not listening
How long can we keep this up, up, up?

Make sure to keep my distance
Say "I love you" when you're not listening
How long til we call this love, love, love?

This song is playing on the radio during my way back from a good swim at the Club.

Recognized the voice at once - the lead singer from Fun - Nate Ruess.

This song completes my day!

Hope you will enjoy grooving with it just like how I did! :)

P!nk - Just Give Me A Reason ft. Nate Ruess

P!nk - Just Give Me A Reason (Official Lyric Video)

"Just Give Me A Reason" lyrics by P!nk ft Nate Ruess

Right from the start
You were a thief
You stole my heart
And I your willing victim
I let you see the parts of me
That weren't all that pretty
And with every touch you fixed them
Now you've been talking in your sleep oh oh
Things you never say to me oh oh
Tell me that you've had enough
Of our love, our love

Just give me a reason
Just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
It's in the stars
It's been written in the scars on our hearts
We're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again

I'm sorry I don't understand
Where all of this is coming from
I thought that we were fine

(Oh we had everything)

Your head is running wild again
My dear we still have everythin'
And it's all in your mind

(Yeah but this is happenin')

You've been havin' real bad dreams oh oh
You used to lie so close to me oh oh
There's nothing more than empty sheets
Between our love, our love
Oh our love, our love

Just give me a reason
Just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
I never stopped
You're still written in the scars on my heart
You're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again

Oh tear ducts and rust
I'll fix it for us
We're collecting dust
But our love's enough
You're holding it in
You're pouring a drink
No nothing is as bad as it seems
We'll come clean

Just give me a reason
Just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
It's in the stars
It's been written in the scars on our hearts
That we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again

Just give me a reason
Just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
It's in the stars
It's been written in the scars on our hearts
That we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
Oh, we can learn to love again
Oh, we can learn to love again
Oh oh, that we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again

The word GRILL does make you droll huh?

This place has been one of our favourite place for baked crab and grilled lamb chop.
Other dishes are pretty normal.

Japanese bean curd in sizzling plate.
Tasted good just like how it should be.
No complaint in this.

Love their fried vegetables.
Simple and tasty.

Kampung chicken on the other hand is a little bit too stiff / hard.
Guess kampung chicken texture is always like this.
But the gravy tasted good being eaten with rice.

Deep fried squids - MUST HAVE!
Uh-laa-laaaaa.
I love the flour they used. So crispy and the squids are not chewy.
Dehliciousss..

Fried fish with ginger.
One may think that fried fish may taste dry and unappetizing.
But this one in particular, is topped with ginger and some oil.
Very nice and aromatic.

Ah-haaa!!! The main character is here!!!
Grilled lamb is the main reason why people come to Hing Ket Grill House.
By the taste of it, we know it's very well marinated.
It's so tender and taste yummylicious with the given mint sauce!
Thumbs up!

Chilli crab.. what can I say.
Yummy! What's missing is some fried mantou.

Baked crab! My favourite!
This place serve one of the most succulent firm crab meat!
When a crab is fresh, any kind of simple cooking method would be sufficient to bring out the crab aroma!
In this case, the baked crab is sweet and juicy.

yummylicious!

Ring ring!

I just came back from Cameron Highlands yesterday, and oh boy! I was exhausted !
Did alot of walking, a short trail of jungle trekking,
and did not get enough of sleep.

Am practically refraining my head from banging on the keyboard now.
*Nah... not that bad...*

But can see that my eyes are half opened though... keke!

I'm in need to get something off my chest today.

I've said this many times before, but I'm saying it again this time.

My PC is dead!!!

Yes I revived it many times.
Paid RM30 to restore the windows, reformat, and all the things that the Dr. PC does.

Worked for a good one week, then gone again.

I've given up on my PC, and am saving up for a new one.

So many blog post pending.
Can't wait to get my hands on the new CPU and blog my heart out.

For the next few weeks, it's gonna be less fun, more OT!
Should be able to save up then...

Gam ba de!!!

Psstt.. Went to many places to eat. Reviews and photos coming up sooooonnnn!!!

If want it sooner, get me a new CPU !!!!!!

Fee Fye Fo Fum,
Ask not whence the thunder comes,
Ask not where the flocks have gone,
Or why the birds have ceased their song.
On your way home, tarry not over long….

Watched Jack the Giant Slayer last weekend.

Interesting remake of the original Jack & The Beanstalk.

Handsome actor and actress.
My eyes was affixed looking at the Princess that I felt like kissing her.
Seriously, Eleanor Tomlinson is awesome looking in this movie!

It was a two hour movie,
but felt longer sitting in there,
perhaps because the battle just went on and on,
could not find time to catch my breath.

And the storyline is as per expected.
Jack found some beans,
did what he was told not to,
beans grew to tall beanstalk,
giant came down,
trying to eat all the human they can find,
Jack kill the giants,
Jack save the day,
Jack save Princess in distress,
Jack marry Princess.

Nevertheless, it was a nice movie to watch.

Thanks Vince for the movie passes!!!

Was supposed to roll out this post yesterday but my hands are tied with loads of paperwork and never ending phone calls.

So yeah, Happy Belated 'International Day of Happiness'!

United Nations has declared that every 20th March would be a day where being happy is more important than any other ordinary day!

Make any sense?

Maybe not how I put it..

But being happy is by helping others, and by making others happy, we will enrich ourselves and thus gained more happiness!

Motto : MAKE SOMEONE SMILE TODAY!

So this day is aimed to acknowledge the importance of happiness, and the way to do this is to contribute good deed, promotes happiness, organize activities to educate and help people in need, and at the same time, have fun while doing it!

How did I celebrate the International Day of Happiness?

I started off my so-called Happy Day wishing everyone in  Facebook  to make someone else happy, not expecting what's coming next.

Went to lunch as normal and when I get back to my desk...

GUESS WHAT'S WAITING?!!!

SOMEONE MADE ME HAPPY!!!

A HUGE GIRAFFE BALLOON and THREE SMILEY FACE BALLOONS!!!

joyce yap blog
SOOOO BIGGGGG.....

Thank you Kayvin for making me SMILE today!

Apparently he sent this because he was worried about my blog post on a sad song by Sinead O'Connor.
Told him that there's nothing to be worried about coz I'm just posting a nice song - not an expression of my current mood or emotional state.

It's after all, a HAPPY DAY, isn't it?!!!

First International Day of Happiness celebrated with super broad smile
(are there anything bigger than smiling from ear to ear?)

So... SMILE! ......... and
LAUUUGGGHHHH OUT LOOOUUDDDD!!!!

Not enough...

Yes... sumore!!!

And more!!! Come on!!!

Rolling in the deep.... opps floor....

"Happy Happy Days ahead everyone! :)"
