On the way to Banting from KESAS highway,
situated a new Thai Restaurant which is popular among foodies now.
Khunthai is not a new name to us.
They have branches in Kepong, Petaling Jaya, Butterworth and in the Penang island.
But... shame shame.. I've never tried it before.
This time around we decided to try out their newly opened branch at Klang.
It is after Parkland, same entry to Canary Garden.
The road entering to Canary Garden is pitch dark.
But it is reassuring to see Khunthai signboard along the straight road with palm tree on both sides.
Signboards showing Khunthai at 2km, 1km to 500m - to know that you are on the right track.
Arriving at the restaurant, you will be greeted by a kampung style pondok lighted with pretty small bulbs.
Accompanied with Thai songs that makes you feel like you're in Thailand.
Khunthai is popular for their grilled seafood too.
And this is where the grilling take place.
Spacious table setting at the restaurant.
Parents can enjoy their food while the little ones play in the kids section.
We are all set to see what Khunthai has to offer!
Oh yes the menu that shows varieties of Thailicious food!
Tomyam Mix Seafood soup is thick, flavorful and FIERY HOT!!!
I had it without rice - BIG MISTAKE!!!
The soup was burning from my lips, tip of my tongue, all the way to my tummy.
But there are plenty of seafood - the prawns and squids are all fresh and juicy.
Love the addition of oyster mushroom in the soup too!
Tomyam Mix Seafood (small) RM 20 |
Pucuk Paku Belacan carries the same amount of chili as the tomyam.
Belacan and chili fragrance has definitely add mark to this plate of vegetables.
But mind you, this is also VERY SPICY!!!
Pucuk Palu Belacan (small) RM10 |
Next on our order chit is the big combo plate of Steamed Squid and Lala in Lemon Sauce.
We should have pick only one instead of the combo plate.
The portion is way too big for us to finish.
The fresh lala and squid is steamed in lemon sauce.
It tasted sourish, and at the same time, SPICY!
Seafood Combo in Lemon Sauce RM30 |
We were contemplating either to order Green Curry Chicken,
but has then settled with Nameless Fried Chicken.
The nameless chicken is crunchy and seemed to be marinated with some spices before being deep fried.
Topped with fried onions, we were happily eating it, being the only non-spicy dish that night.
Look at Bernard enjoying the spiciness of the tomyam.
Took a puff from his ciggie and continue battling with the remaining dishes.
Barry was obviously sweating from the dinner.
Having spicy food every spoonful, this is a good exercise for him to sweat it all out!
Khunthai serves very good Thai food - just a little bit more spicy to my liking.
But those who enjoy spicy Thai food - this is the right place for you!
