To celebrate Barry's birthday,
I've arranged for a dinner at Favola, Le Meredian.

It is an Italian Restaurant with creative renaissance era setting,
the environment there is just purrrfect!

With my advance booking and request, they placed us in a
cozy rounded sofa seating at the back for a more peaceful dinner..
... and to take more photos without embarrassment! *now call me genius!*

They welcome us with breads that looked really hard,
but oh boy, it was soft and warm inside!
Served with three dips, we were pretty stuffed even before
we started with our appetizer!

Barry particularly like the bread stick!

Zuppa di Funghi Calabrese
Assorted mushrooms cooked in milk with garlic rustic bread and Swiss cheese
The mushroom soup is thick and with small chunks of mushrooms.
It was really good. The rustic bread is quite unusual as mushroom soup is
usually paired with garlic bread. But it was a not-bad combination
and we truly enjoyed our appetizer.

Being a mushroom soup lover, I feel that Favola's version

is compatible with ones served at Dome or even Levain. Yuhmmmm....

Seared Jumbo Sea Scallop with Mushroom and Truffle

These scallop... yuhmmmm... big and juicy!
Seared to perfection with my favourite mushroom,
with bits of truffles on top, it's a dish that make us begging for more.
The mushroom may be a little salty by itself,
but to eat it with the scallop, the taste really compliments each other.

These jumbo scallops reminds me of the huge scallops
Kayvin ordered all the way from Japan!
Check this out!

Beef lasagna
Traditional beef Bolognese with chunky wagyu beef cheeklayered
with fresh pasta, cheese crust and truffle oil.

Unlike the normal lasagna with thick layer of pasta
in between small tiny chunks of minced beef, the lasagna served
in Favola is mind blowing! (wow.. obvious exaggeration)

But this dish is truly amazing - I love how the beef balognese taste,
so rich in taste of tomato and herbs. Baked with thin layer of pasta
in between and topped with cheese crust.
How could one resist this dish in Favola?!!

2 scoops of Italian gelato

Gelato! (reminds me of the minions)

Illy inspiredTiramisu
Layers of soft sponge soaked in freshly brewed Illy coffee,
panna cotta, mascarpone foam and topped with cookie croutons
and the Cassata made with rich Häagen Dazs Vanilla,
Strawberry and Pistachio ice-cream.

Barry's birthday cake comes in a form of Favola's signature dessert, the tiramisu.

After a hearty meal, and I'm glad the birthday boy enjoyed it,

we both stroll along the pool for more photos!

Happy Birthday again old man!
We've known each other for almost 9 years now, I guess?
It has been very comforting knowing that you'll always be around
when I rise, when I fall, and mostly... when I'm hungry.

Every year I would wish you the same, THE BEST in everything you do,
but this year I'd like to emphasize that you have THE BEST OF HEALTH.
Coz that's the most valuable treasure one could possess.

May you have a blessed year ahead!

It's a Public Holiday today.
A total of 3 days to be spent wisely - which has been allocated as family daySSS.

Spent the entire day bringing mum to the temple, shopping, buying groceries etc.
And she has a sudden craving for asam laksa and chee cheong fun.
Then pitifully said "I wish there's Lorong Seratus Tahun" here in Klang.

Yeah mum, I missed it too.
But since we're rushing against time to meet dad for movie,
we opt for a desperate option - Nyonya Colors at Bukit Raja.

Wasn't very good. Seemed like their quality dropped tremendously.

While eating, we both were thinking about Lorong Seratus Tahun..
(although it can't be compared to the real aunthentic nyonya food in Penang,
this the best we can get under one roof, looking at the distance of us from Penang)

Now I could only post photos of our previous visit.
Till our next visit to LST, let's just droll on it will ya....

Penang Chee Cheong Fun (RM 4.80)

It's really hard to find Penang chee cheong fun in Klang.
Made me treasure every single bite of LST chee cheong fun, taste so good
with the generous portion of sprinkled fried onions.
For chee cheong fun, I can't find anywhere better than Genting Cafe @ Island Glades.
Not even in LST...

penang chee cheong fun

LST Curry Mee (RM 6.50)

The curry laksa with thick soup, and is done how it
should be - with "ham (in Hokkien) / kerang / cockles".
Although I don't take it, but somehow the soup taste better with it,
or partly the stench of it?
And I love the "jiu hu (Hokkien) / cuttlefish" that they add in this laksa!

curry laksa

LST Fried Kuey Teow (RM 7.50)
Ahaa! Anybody can fry kuey teow, but not everyone can fry a Penang kuey teow!
If mum agree that the kuey teow served in LST taste like one from our hometown,
then YES, it's a Penang char kuey teow!!!

penang char kuey teow

Penang Rojak (RM 6.50)
Mango, cucumber, sengkuang, pineapple, cuttlefish, and deep fried "ewe char kuey",
topped with "hae kor (Hokkien) / black dried shrimp paste" and chopped roasted peanut,
voilaaa~~~ lip smacking!!!

penang rojak

Penang Cendol (RM 5.30)

The cendol didn't fare well... :'(
Alot of improvement needed on the shaved ice - prefer a smoother one.
And cendol do not have pandan fragrance.
And lacking of gula Melaka.

Overall the food there is not bad.
We love them coz we're so far away from Penang,
and they serve almost everything under one roof.

yummylicious!!!!

When comes to buffet, I'm the best customer ever!
Coz I eat like a little kitten and all-I-can-eat worth only 10% of what I'm paying.

This time I'm bringing business to Gen 10 at Sunway Putra Hotel in KL.

Barry intro-ed me to this place coz he said they serve one of the best buffet!

Let's see what the picky eater says.... :)

joyce yap blog joycelifebits
I love the big mirror hanging in the lift...

Hot ocha comes in a Japanese teko.
Self-service. Just wonderful.

joyce yap blog joycelifebits

Wide selection of fresh ingredients displayed for teppanyaki section.
I tried everything except for the chicken coz I don't take lean meat.

The salmon, mussel and beef is highly recommended!
Everything is cooked just perfectly fine! Not too raw nor overcooked.
Don't forget your vege! Take some cabbages and alot of straw mushrooms.
It's my favvvv....

joyce yap blog joycelifebits

There are also a section for noodle soup.
Looking at my tummy's capacity, and the availability of noodle soup just anywhere,
I decided to skip this section - which proves to be a good choice coz other
sections seemed to have more tempting food waiting !!!

joyce yap blog joycelifebits

The grill section. Fish, chicken, beef, corn,
you name it, you have - okay not all, but, it's good enough.

joyce yap blog joycelifebits

Eggs and mushrooms - when these two combined, I'll be eating heavenly.
Chawanmushi - a very common appetizer that I could get anywhere,
but I just had to have it!

The egg is smooth, and a little watery - the way I like it.

joyce yap blog joycelifebits

Japanese appetizer, sushi, sashimi, assorted tempura and my teppanyaki.

To be frank, I wasn't too sure about Barry's claim that they serve good Jap buffet.
Coz the selection is too limited in the sashimi area.
Oh ya, did I forget to mention that they don't have a common unagi dish?!!
Or even temaki?!!

The food they serve is good, but it is lacking of variety.
And I hope they could improve in having fresher sashimi for their customer.

joyce yap blog joycelifebits

Dessert area - heaven!!!
Was blown away by the sights of tiny little cup of colorful desserts.
Took some cakes, puddings and ice-creams.

Best thing about this place is the VIEW!!! It is overlooking the KLCC.
Barry kept emphasizing the environment before actually brought me there.
Our mood was instantly improved just by looking at the beautifully lighted twin tower.
Such a romantic place... :)

joyce yap blog joycelifebits

For two of us, the bill come out to a total of RM250.
Not bad looking at the view, selection of food, and the quality of the food itself.

yummylicious!

Yee-haaaa!
A photo of the recent me to greet ya'all !!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tried Levain and lovin' it?
But after a few trips, thought it may be too far for a breakie?
Or even for a good tea?

You may be happy to hear that there's a nice bakery nearby
that truly resembles Levain in so many ways.

Yeah I called it "bakery", a term that everyone undestands.. unlike
the "Boulangerie & Pâtisserie" that always got my tongue twisted.

This place is called Shakespeare Boulangerie & Pâtisserie and
it is located just at the corner of SS15 at Subang Jaya.

And it was Vince's brilliant idea to introduce me
to this place that may get me hooked!

Shakespeare Boulangerie & Pâtisserie
Shakespeare... a fine place of where bread and coffee comes together in an art.
Soweeyy.. came that out myself, was too carried away..

Walking around the bread and pastries area,
I can't help but thinking that I'm in Levain.

The food & beverages menu, especially the breads,
are almost 90% similar with what Levain is offering.

The cakes looks very tempting as it comes in
special shapes and sizes, and even colors!

They were practically begging me to eat em!!!!
I wish I've taken a few photos that time....

But since we went there for breakfast, we ordered something light.
Sorry cakes, I'll have you some other time! ;)

Vince had a good old Cappucino at RM6.50.
It was a decent cup of coffee with simple art, nothing fancy.

Shakespeare Boulangerie & Pâtisserie

With my usual liking for eggs, I ordered Scrabled Egg Crossaint (RM 8.80).
The soft and warm crossaint is stuffed
with scrambled eggs and a slice of chicken ham.
It comes with a side salad too.

It was pretty good - they are very generous with the scrambed eggs for sure!

This is one of the good scramble egg crossaint that I've tried,
and this includes ones at Pacific Coffee, which is my FAVOURITE!!!

Shakespeare Boulangerie & Pâtisserie

Vince wanted to have aglop-olio but the pasta selection
is only available 11am onwards. Since we're early,
only the breakfast selection is available (8am  10.45am).

So he had the Big Breakfast (RM 12.50).
It comes with toast bread, chicken ham, sausages,
grilled mushrooms, scrambled eggs and a side salad as well.

It's yummy, but nothing to shout about, really, coz I would prefer ones in
Marmalade Cafe @ Bangsar Village for their big breakfast.

Shakespeare Boulangerie & Pâtisserie

Overall, Shakespeare will be one of my top choices
when I have American cravings to fulfill..

Am glad to be introduced to this great place.

yummylicious!

I'm back guys!

Believe it or not, I have 9 drafts of blog post.
All needed some penning before I could post it up.

Another random post here.
Since recently I've been busy eating from Klang to PJ to KL, even to Penang,
thought of posting some good photos up (altho some may have seen in my FB).

Simple yet yummy lunch around my office area.

Momento Cafe.

Operated by young owners - who happened to be staying at Eco Park.

They serve good coffee. This round we ordered cappuccino. Not bad actually.

Seafood pasta was delicious. Fresh ingredients. We enjoyed every bit of it!

Chicken pie with mashed potatoes was aweeesome!
The crust is thin with very satisfying fillings.
Mashed potato sauce however, urmm... tasted like it's from
the Maggi mashed potato pack or something?

We also ordered ourselves from peperoni pizza. Cheezy - me likey!
Shouldn't have it at the first place.
But what the heck. Hantam aje - the usual devil's line.

Since eating have been my one and only professional hobby now,
I guess there's more reason to exercise!

To those who commented that I'm lucky coz I get
to stay fit although I've been eating mad,
you are soooo... wrong!

Photo below taken after my 3 hours hike at Gunung Gasing.
I do work out, see?!!

And I've been gaining weight yoooo!!!

Going to get ready for my badminton session now...
( see see see.....)

Cheerssss!!!
