Crab lovers!

BEE-DOO BEE-DOO BEE-DOO!
(alarm blasting like crazy!)

If you have not try out this place,
you're missing one of the best seafood goodness!

I never knew the existence of this place which is only 20-minutes away
from my house until my cousin from P.J introduced it to me! (ironically)

I have been there for numerous occasions and had tried different dishes.
Verdict as below...

Kali Little is well-known for their "pok chim" - grilled crabs.

And why is it popular?
Imagine crab's pincers as big as your palm!
Not only the size awe you, but the full firm succulent juicy flesh inside!
The way they grilled the crab helps to preserve the aroma,
and is enhanced with little seasoning, and a little too much of salt.

When you are there, try to ask them to be gentle on the salt will ya?

A little pricey, but every penny is worth paying for!

One big and definitely satisfying grilled crab pincer!

Steam fish is one of the must-have dish at this restaurant.
The fish served here is fresh and steamed in a simple home-made recipe,
is enough to keep us smiling away.

I have tried sizzling prawns and "siong tong prawns",
and I would say that the sizzling one is whole lot better!

Fear not as it wasn't the freshness that turns me off, but it's the
soup that is filled with prawns taste that I'm not fond of. Taste a little "fishy".

The sizzling one on the other hand, is sweet and a little spicy.
Just nice to go with white rice.

Although this "siong tong fish" is recommended as
one of the popular dish, I didn't like it that much.

Big pieces of eel is cooked in a salty soup base, that tasted nice and appetizing at first,
but to have a few more spoonful of it give me the "jelak" feeling.
Furthermore, there are 4 or 5 big pieces of eel to finish - that's alot!

You may try this dish, but try to pick other fish as eel may not go very well here.

The next dish is what made me excited everytime I dine here!
"Siong tong lala" is hot, spicy, flavorful, and every lala is big and juicy!

Made us sweat but definitely wanting more!

Fried pork with "fu yu" sauce.
Simple dish which is aromatic, but I think I would want to stick to the seafood line.

Claypot tofu with egg. A dish that we can get anywhere else,
but I love the amount of egg in this plate, topped with minced meat,
I finished my bowl of rice!

Remember your vegetables!
This restaurant can't go wrong with a simple plate of garlic stir potato leaves.
Yuhmieee...

One of my requirement of a good buffet is when we get to order from the menu!
That means, we get to eat anything without having to queue for it.
Furthermore, it will be fresh and hot when served to our table!

I have been to Tao twice, and was glad to have better experience
on the second visit than the first. Means improvement, eh?

This time, I was determined to get together few of my close friends
in the mission to try out as many dish as possible at this outlet.

And it was the best deal ever when we were there on a weekday!
We paid RM48++ per pax for lunch buffet from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
Now tell me that it's a good bargain!

Edamame, even more delicious when served with salt - a simple but must-have starter!

Abalone slices. Simply delicious! We had three plates of these.

nice food photo abalone

Sashimi lovers would be impressed by the variety of raw seafood
offered at Tao. We had salmon, tuna, octopus and prawns which are undoubtedly fresh!
I don't quite enjoy the octopus as it's a little chewy - very gum challenging!

types of sashimi

We too had some Adegashi Tofu which I find simple but very tasty.
I love how the slightly fried tofu is still soft inside, and simple ingredients
like ginger, shallots and seaweed could make the dish so satisfying.

One of our regrettable order is the huge plate of Cheese Baked Scallops.
It do sound very tempting, and the look of it may have you blown away,
but the fresh scallops are covered by thick mayonnaise and the taste of scallops are barely there.

Fried Softshell Crabs and Tempura Moriawase are the two fried
dishes that one would bound to order in a Japanese restaurant.
Although these dishes may be quite on par with other outlets,
I find Tao's a tad too oily.

If there is one dish that would makes me very happy,
that would be the Unagi - yes, Unagi, without the Don.
With their new extensive menu, I can now enjoy a wholesome dish of grilled unagi itself!

delicious unagi japanese

Steamed Cod Fish from the buffet line is one of the fastest to finish!
The aroma and natural sweetness is enhanced
with slight garnishing of spring onions and ginger.

healthy steam cod fish

We had so many fish dishes and it all have been very satisfying except
for this one here. I forgotten the name of it, but it's some grilled fish,
and it wasn't very memorable.

Grilled prawns! My favourite! There are plenty of fresh seafood displayed
on the buffet line. Fish (please please please don't forget the salmon),
scallops (oh-my gawd), mussels (yuhmmm), prawns (slurrrpppp),
beef (nom nom nom...) just to mention a few!
Some are for teppanyaki and some to be grilled on the spot!
We had a plate of what I mentioned above, and I finished it before snapping a photo.

grilled prawns recipe

We were also tempted to order a dish comprising of some shell thingy.
Couldn't remember the name, cause it kind of disappoint us at the end.

Sushi is available from both the menu and buffet line.
One of our menu-ordered-sushi is topped with smoked salmon.
It's actually not bad, but I guess we were way to full to enjoy it fully.

Another sushi we ordered is tasted good.
Ebi tempura sushi topped with mango and avocado.
A refreshing twist!

And irregardless of how full we are, there is ample of space
for free-flow ice-cream with various toppings!
..... not forgetting, chocolate toppings too!!!

Verdict : One of the best buffet I've tasted. In terms of variety and quality,
Tao has improved alot over the years. I'd love to go there again soon!

Satisfied guests of the day : Vince, Rachel, Heeyang, Eric, CC and myself

The word GRILL does make you droll huh?
I know I am drooling now.

My previous blogspot about Hing Ket Grill House is lacking of 'visual aid'.

So here it goes... photos and all.
Thanks to my office laptop I'm blogging now!

Hing Ket Grill House is located at Kampung Jawa.
Location wise is very hard to describe but there are
few bloggers who manage to give precise turning point.

Hope the below direction from other blogger would be of help.

Direction:-
  1. It is located off the main road along Kampung Jawa, Klang.
  2. If you come from Fed. Highway, after toll, go straight. 1st viaduct, go up.
  3. At roundabout, turn left. (condos in front)
  4. When you reach traffic lights, take left. There’ll be shop lots on the left.
  5. Go straight. At traffic lights, turn right. You’ll come to a T-junction, turn left there.
  6. Travel down that road, quite a distance. Shop is on your right so you’ll hv to keep a lookout (at a curvy part of the road).
  7. This shop is sandwiched btw a house and another shop.(the whole area is called kg. jawa)
  8. Not far from Connaught Bridge TNB Power station

This place has been one of our favourite place for baked crab and grilled lamb chop.
Other dishes are pretty normal.

Japanese bean curd in sizzling plate.
Tasted good just like how it should be.
No complaint in this.

Love their fried vegetables.
Simple and tasty.

Kampung chicken on the other hand is a little bit too stiff / hard.
Guess kampung chicken texture is always like this.
But the gravy tasted good being eaten with rice.

Deep fried squids - MUST HAVE!
Uh-laa-laaaaa.
I love the flour they used. So crispy and the squids are not chewy.
Dehliciousss..

Fried fish with ginger.
One may think that fried fish may taste dry and unappetizing.
But this one in particular, is topped with ginger and some oil.
Very nice and aromatic.

Ah-haaa!!! The main character is here!!!
Grilled lamb is the main reason why people come to Hing Ket Grill House.
By the taste of it, we know it's very well marinated.
It's so tender and taste yummylicious with the given mint sauce!
Thumbs up!

Chilli crab.. what can I say.
Yummy! What's missing is some fried mantou.

Baked crab! My favourite!
This place serve one of the most succulent firm crab meat!
When a crab is fresh, any kind of simple cooking method would be sufficient to bring out the crab aroma!
In this case, the baked crab is sweet and juicy.

yummylicious!

Today there were a total of 10 of us hunting for food, in conjunction with a birthday celebration.. well, without a cake.

We went to Hing Ket Grill House at Kampung Jawa. This place is very popular not only among Klang people, but also food hunters from KL and other places. I have just found out that my food idol KY came all the way from PJ to this restaurant too! ;)

Since there were so many of us, we ordered a total of 9 dishes...

1) Grilled crab
2) Grilled prawns
3) Grilled squids
4) Grilled sting ray
5) Grilled lamb chop
6) Steamed lala
7) Vegetables
8) Fried glass noodles
9) Fried mee suah

The crab was grilled to perfection, and what I love most is the egg... I don't really know how to describe that type of egg where it is kinda soft and bitter. Just love it! All these grilled seafood does not need any salt or flavoring because it is so fresh! I love the prawn and string ray too!

The grilled squids and steamed lala on the other hand is just okay for me.

The grilled lamb chop is however, is a MUST if you come to Hing Ket Grill House! It is very tender and juicy, and is best accompanied with the mint sauce. Love love love it!!!

This dinner is one of the most enjoyable meal I had for the past 1 month. The only thing I regret though, is that I did not bring my camera along!!!

Anyhow, try Google Hing Ket and you can see plenty of people talking about it and photos of the food is widely accessible!

Yummylicious!!! ;)

Had an amazing weekend!

Well, Saturday isn't that great because I worked like a mad cow. But Sunday memang best lahh!!! (a better version of Myvi Lagi Best).

Here's the bits of my Sunday...

Approx 10.30am - arrival at Strawberry Park, Gohtong Jaya

I was hoping that the strawberry park could be more lively. There are hardly red ripe strawberries and those that are red and ripe looked odd!

This place promotes self-pick strawberries which are RM6 for every 100gram. And when I say 100gram, trust me, it's not alot!

And those who wants to self-pick, was given a small basket and scissors. Looking at those excited faces, I kinda feel pity for those poor fellas as I bet they would have to walk like 10 rounds in the park and yet could not find enough strawberries that could weigh 100gram. Muahahaa~ *evil grin*

Photos look great tho'! Thanks to Azlan photography skill!

Approx 12.30am - Arrival at BBQ Bukit Tinggi Restaurant

This restaurant is the sole reason of Gavin and I initiate this trip! Azlan, Vivenn, Rachel & Jack had been to this restaurant. We saw their photos in FB featuring steam seafood and we eventually persuaded them to bring us there.

These food has got really weird names. Vegetable rice, seafood pot (hoi sin bou) and snow mountain flying fox (shuet san fei wu)!

Tofu egg, chicken f*ck the wall, and lamb. Seriously.. I didn't make that up! The chicken f*ck the wall is how it is directly directed from Cantonese "kai tiu cheong". The tofu and lamb has got their names too but I forgotten cause I'm partially a 'banana'.

Vivenn wanted to order one of their specialty called "sor hai" --> (no I'm not joking), but the waiter said that the dish is not available on that day because they are lacking of cook and so ordered something more simple.

The owner of this restaurant is very "pa pai". Although there are more people coming into the restaurant, the owner and staffs (who has their hands all tied up due to the crowd), will just let the customers sit down, wait, and finally tell them off "sorry we are not serving anymore, you may leave".

WOW!

Yet, there are still alot of people going to the restaurant that serves many more interesting food accompanied by attractive names (most of it sound like Chinese proverb or extracted from a Chinese movie or something).

Price : Total damage for 7 pax is RM350.
Contact : Those interested may call Mr. Chan at 012-357 7111 / 012-905 0020 for reservation. We strongly recommend reservation as you will not risk all the way up there for nothing. Furthermore, they will have time to prepare special dishes for you!
Address : P/T. 15792 & 15793, Jalan Bukit Tinggi, 28750 Bentong, Pahang. (Behind BHP Petrol Pump)
This place is quite hard to find for first timers as there are no signage. Just go pass by Selesa Hill Homes, through the tunnel, and look for the BHP just after the tunnel. The Restaurant is located just behind the BHP.

Approx 3.00p.m - Arrival at FLORIA 2011 (Putrajaya Flower & Garden Festival)

I was amused by the size of this festival! And am quite impressed that Malaysia landscapers achieved this standard of gardening. But those who visit this festival on day 3 onwards may find if disappointing as flowers may starts dying already.... haha!

Myself, Gavin Chong & Vivenn Chong (not siblings, but good friends who known each other for 10 years!)

Some of the photos are taken at Strawberry Park while the rest was taken at FLORIA.

The utmost important ingredient in the yummiest weekend - great companionship! These are the jokers... hahaha~ Tan, Gavin, Rachel & Jack!

Approx 5pm - Arrival at Alamanda Putrajaya.

It was my first time there.. and I asked them if I have to do the "turtle walk" since I'm considered a jungle turtle. Hehehehe... Took a light dinner and we then head to our respective home-sweet-home after a long day!!!

Needless to say, we all had hell of a great time! Those bunch friends are fun to be with.. and what a great laughter we had throughout the day!

A brief summary of my trip to Penang with dad, mum & Vince.. accompanied by pictures for better description... *wink*

White curry laksa @ Kwan Nam Restaurant, Butterworth Seberang Perai (recommended by Ho Chiak!). After mixing the sambal, it will be the ordinary looking laksa. Doesn't taste extraordinary though. It's popular just because of the santan base soup before it mixes with the curry sambal.

Tua-ee posing as an angle - very angelic indeed~

And this is my angel.. Venessa! Spent most of my time at Penang with her. Can't get enough of her charm, smile, laughter, and of course, her curiosity on everything! She also have the same birthday as me, and the same Chinese zodiac too. She came 2 cycle after me. I want a baby that look just like her~

Jazz the Diva poodle

Miami Green Condo - Swimming pool view taken from 9th floor

Ketam bakar (baked crab) at Tanjung Tokong, Penang.
RM80 for 2 kilos, expensive but yummy yummy.

Me slurping down on coconut flesh... so fresh.. nice to go with the ketam bakar. This place is well known for ketam bakar, it was destroyed during the tsunami. Was re-built again and business is on-going as usual.

I went on "wahh wahhh wahhhhhh...." like jungle turtle when I saw the whole farm! All the dragon fruits are ripe and just waiting to be plucked~ The red colored fruits looked so outstanding hanging on the greenish plant.

This is just 0.5% of the whole farm's dragon fruits! The farm is HUGE!!! Anyone interested to get some dragon fruits, it's located at Juru, Butterworth.

I took a few bite before I take a picture of it. So sweeeetttttt~ Unlike the normal dragon fruits, it's usually tasteless and people eat it just because it's benefitial for health. This is really sweet!
