I'm back guys!

Believe it or not, I have 9 drafts of blog post.
All needed some penning before I could post it up.

Another random post here.
Since recently I've been busy eating from Klang to PJ to KL, even to Penang,
thought of posting some good photos up (altho some may have seen in my FB).

Simple yet yummy lunch around my office area.

Momento Cafe.

Operated by young owners - who happened to be staying at Eco Park.

They serve good coffee. This round we ordered cappuccino. Not bad actually.

Seafood pasta was delicious. Fresh ingredients. We enjoyed every bit of it!

Chicken pie with mashed potatoes was aweeesome!
The crust is thin with very satisfying fillings.
Mashed potato sauce however, urmm... tasted like it's from
the Maggi mashed potato pack or something?

We also ordered ourselves from peperoni pizza. Cheezy - me likey!
Shouldn't have it at the first place.
But what the heck. Hantam aje - the usual devil's line.

Since eating have been my one and only professional hobby now,
I guess there's more reason to exercise!

To those who commented that I'm lucky coz I get
to stay fit although I've been eating mad,
you are soooo... wrong!

Photo below taken after my 3 hours hike at Gunung Gasing.
I do work out, see?!!

And I've been gaining weight yoooo!!!

17th November 2012
Yay! Food blogging again!

This is actually my 3rd visit to Allegro Cafe, a cozy little Italian restaurant.

This shop is kinda hidden in the row of shop opposite Little Bally Cafe.
Look out for a yellow signboard at the first floor with a little balcony facing front.

Once you stepped in, it gives a very warm and cosy feeling.
It's just a small little restaurant to cater less than 40 pax.
But it's a nice place to chill, and sit back after meal.

The traditional looking menu

As the menu offers whole lot of selection of pasta, pizza, main courses, desserts etc,
we seek for one of the chinese supervisor's recommendation.

Barry ordered carbonara but he said one of their signature pasta is almost
the same as carbonara but it's with wild mushroom, and without egg, so the sauce is thicker.

I was like "SAY WHAT?!! WILD MUSHROOMS?!! OH YESSS!!!"

So we ordered the recommended Tagliatelle with Wild Mushroom.
The sauce is thick, flavorful, cheesy, and makes me wanting more!
Definitely one of the best carbonara-type pasta I've tasted!

Allegro Cafe tagliatelle
homemade flat noodles cooked with mushroom, cheese and herbs (RM 28)
I ordered my usual Lamb Shank. Wouldn't miss it in every visit!
Option of pasta or salad as side for the braised lamb.
The lamb shank is tender, and the gravy is yummylicious!

Vince was summoned to order pizza, and so this salmon lover got us Smoked Salmon pizza.

However, among all the dishes we ordered, this pizza is a disappointment.
It is almost tasteless and the salmon is such a waste to be used this way.

Next time try the Quattro Stagioni pizza.
I've tried it, it was good - but bear in mind that it has beef bacon and pepperoni on it.

slices of smoked salmon, onion and rosemary (RM 30)

For desserts, we were recommended Zabaione which
has egg white foam and a little bit of wine on it.

The taste of wine is not as strong as expected, but there is a wine aroma in it.
Scoop in deeper and you'll find yourself vanilla ice cream
to blend in with the foam and choco powder.

Allegro Cafe zabaoine
Zabaione - egg meringue flavored with Marsala wine or coffee served with vanilla ice cream (RM 12)
We also ordered the old-fashioned dessert - the tiramisu!
It took them around 20 minutes to serve the tiramisu after clearing our tables.
They might have forgotten about our order.
Not a big fan of tiramisu, to me it taste nice, but doesn't get my taste bud tingling.

Bernard, Vince, Joyce & Barry @ Allegro Cafe

Verdict :-
Food : 4 / 5
(smoked salmon pizza not up to par)

Ambiance : 4.5 / 5

Service : 3.5 / 5
(having trouble communicating with one of the waiter
and our tiramisu has been completely forgotten from the order chit)

Price : 4 / 5
(Total bill of RM150++ including coffee and mushroom soup,
the portion is quite small for the price paid)

Recently in Pavilion KL, they have just opened Tokyo Street. That street offers all sort of food, desserts, and cute cute stuffs that are very Korean-ish.

Newly opened Tokyo Street @ Pavilion KL

And there seemed to be a big hoo-ha about a ramen shop called Hokkaido Santouka in that Tokyo Street and so I thought of giving it a try during weekend. We went all the way to Pavilion on Sunday to find that there is a long Q at Hokkaido Santouka. Well it was a weekend so it is understandable... While joining the Q, the waitress brought along a menu for us to order in advance. There wasn't much choices to choose from, and a bowl of plain ramen is priced from RM28 - RM 35. I looked closel, flipping the pages from back to forth, forth to back, and did not find anything that attract me to try on that day. So we left... But I really hope that the other choices in the menu would be available soon because I want to at least try it once.

Long Q at Hokkaido Santouka that eventually scares us away..

As I was already starving since we depart from Klang, we simply pick a restaurant at the Tokyo Street for lunch. Came across Takahashi Cafe that seemed to be quite packed and so got the impression that it may be a nice place to eat. But we are proven wrong very quickly... :(

Salad is so-so. Ask Jebsen for more info. Haha!

Unagi spaghetti sucks. The unagi pieces are so thin and has got the not-fresh fish taste. Yucks... In Hokkien we called it "chau cho". Hahaha!

My scallop + prawn pizza on the other hand is acceptable. The thin crust is filled with alot of cheese which is yum yummmm. But the scallop and prawn isn't that fresh and thus spoil the pizza crust.

The meal is expensive too! Total bill of RM80++. Will not go again, and will not recommend any of the food there.

Yummylicious NOT!!! :(
