If childhood memories didn't fail you, you may have remembered being told of a tale
starting with "Once upon a time, there were 3 little pigs... and a biigg... baadd.. wolf!"

Three Little Pigs and The Big Bad Wolf @ Bangsar Village

As the tale goes on, the pig managed to build a brickhouse and being forever safe from the hungry wolf.

The tale in this eatery somehow, ended quite sadly for the pigs.

Well, one will know how it ended when the dishes are named...

"The one that didn't get away"...
"The wolf's favourite"...
"Piggies rolling in the mud"...

This little place in Bangsar Village draw alot of crowd recently
and it wouldn't harm wolfing down the piggies, ehhh???

Greeted by queuing patrons, we took our number and amazingly only had to wait
for 15 minutes before being seated despite no reservation being made.
Bur don't risk it. For important dinner, do call for a reservation.

For starter, we had Garlic Roast Pork which is undoubtedly well marinated
and topped with fried garlic, made us wanting for more. One turned down by the dish was,
the roast pork skin, which I would prefer really crispy!

Caesar Salad served with pork bacon and fried poached egg.
What? Fried? Yumzzzz.... :)

The Wolf's Favourite
Now how could I resist my favourite carbonara which had just made better with pork bacons?
Seated on the perfect plate of carbonara is a poached egg.
Once I make a light cut, huff and puff comes the runny yolk! Voila!!!

We were indeed very satisfied wolves that night.

A quick verdict

Ambiance - 7/10 (seating were quite close and crowded)
Food - 6.5/10 (probably some ribs and burgers would bring this up a little)
Price - 6.5/10 (a little pricey for something that I wouldn't grade an astoundingly delicious one)

17th November 2012
Yay! Food blogging again!

This is actually my 3rd visit to Allegro Cafe, a cozy little Italian restaurant.

This shop is kinda hidden in the row of shop opposite Little Bally Cafe.
Look out for a yellow signboard at the first floor with a little balcony facing front.

Once you stepped in, it gives a very warm and cosy feeling.
It's just a small little restaurant to cater less than 40 pax.
But it's a nice place to chill, and sit back after meal.

The traditional looking menu

As the menu offers whole lot of selection of pasta, pizza, main courses, desserts etc,
we seek for one of the chinese supervisor's recommendation.

Barry ordered carbonara but he said one of their signature pasta is almost
the same as carbonara but it's with wild mushroom, and without egg, so the sauce is thicker.

I was like "SAY WHAT?!! WILD MUSHROOMS?!! OH YESSS!!!"

So we ordered the recommended Tagliatelle with Wild Mushroom.
The sauce is thick, flavorful, cheesy, and makes me wanting more!
Definitely one of the best carbonara-type pasta I've tasted!

Allegro Cafe tagliatelle
homemade flat noodles cooked with mushroom, cheese and herbs (RM 28)
I ordered my usual Lamb Shank. Wouldn't miss it in every visit!
Option of pasta or salad as side for the braised lamb.
The lamb shank is tender, and the gravy is yummylicious!

Vince was summoned to order pizza, and so this salmon lover got us Smoked Salmon pizza.

However, among all the dishes we ordered, this pizza is a disappointment.
It is almost tasteless and the salmon is such a waste to be used this way.

Next time try the Quattro Stagioni pizza.
I've tried it, it was good - but bear in mind that it has beef bacon and pepperoni on it.

For desserts, we were recommended Zabaione which
has egg white foam and a little bit of wine on it.

The taste of wine is not as strong as expected, but there is a wine aroma in it.
Scoop in deeper and you'll find yourself vanilla ice cream
to blend in with the foam and choco powder.

Allegro Cafe zabaoine
Zabaione - egg meringue flavored with Marsala wine or coffee served with vanilla ice cream (RM 12)
We also ordered the old-fashioned dessert - the tiramisu!
It took them around 20 minutes to serve the tiramisu after clearing our tables.
They might have forgotten about our order.
Not a big fan of tiramisu, to me it taste nice, but doesn't get my taste bud tingling.

Bernard, Vince, Joyce & Barry @ Allegro Cafe

Verdict :-
Food : 4 / 5
(smoked salmon pizza not up to par)

Ambiance : 4.5 / 5

Service : 3.5 / 5
(having trouble communicating with one of the waiter
and our tiramisu has been completely forgotten from the order chit)

Price : 4 / 5
(Total bill of RM150++ including coffee and mushroom soup,
the portion is quite small for the price paid)

I've always loved Nyonya Colors kuih... but find that mum's better!

Hers are "without added preservative and colorings!"

Back to Nyonya Colors, I usually patron their
outlet at Bukit Raja Jaya Jusco
and enjoy their asam laksa that serve as an
alternative to cure my homesick cravings..

Last two weeks I went to their outlet
at Bukit Tinggi AEON for tea time and ordered
some nyonya kuih,
rojak,
Penang chee cheong fun
and cendol.

All of the food we ordered, SUCKS!!!

Can you imagine rojak using keropok udang?
And the Penang chee cheong fun is like kuey teow in a duno-what sauce.
Cendol is hard and santan is not properly dissolved.
A simply 'cham' doesn't taste like cham at all..

nyonya food sucks

Luckily their kuih is still edible.

No more patronizing Nyonya Colors @ Bukit Tinggi AEON!!!

Feeling so dissatisfied, we decided to have dessert!
Vince always say "there's always room for dessert!!!"

AGREE!!!   :)

Went to Haagen Dazs for their Fondue set.

Self-explanatory photos below showing our satisfaction... *burp*

Despite the selection of ice-cream, cookies, fruits etc from Haagen Dazs,
I still prefer the fondue I had at Cameron Highlands with Barry.

Another yummy encounter at Setia City Mall - Fullhouse!

Fullhouse Setia City Mall

I was never a fan of Fullhouse..  coz to me,
it's more to a gimmick using interior designing for a restaurant
rather than promoting good food...

But as a loyal fan of Setia City Mall, I just have to try it out...

To my surprise, I wasn't disappointed!

The menu maybe, coz none of the food in the menu is available..
But they do have alot of selection from their Green Menu
which offers promotional prices for their pre-release menu..

go green food menu

Vince again over-ordered for both of us..
We had carbonara and half grilled chicken - which both is yummylicious!

The services rendered that night was very pleasant too!
