Takahashi Cafe (a no-no!!!)

Recently in Pavilion KL, they have just opened Tokyo Street. That street offers all sort of food, desserts, and cute cute stuffs that are very Korean-ish.

And there seemed to be a big hoo-ha about a ramen shop called Hokkaido Santouka in that Tokyo Street and so I thought of giving it a try during weekend. We went all the way to Pavilion on Sunday to find that there is a long Q at Hokkaido Santouka. Well it was a weekend so it is understandable... While joining the Q, the waitress brought along a menu for us to order in advance. There wasn't much choices to choose from, and a bowl of plain ramen is priced from RM28 - RM 35. I looked closel, flipping the pages from back to forth, forth to back, and did not find anything that attract me to try on that day. So we left... But I really hope that the other choices in the menu would be available soon because I want to at least try it once.

As I was already starving since we depart from Klang, we simply pick a restaurant at the Tokyo Street for lunch. Came across Takahashi Cafe that seemed to be quite packed and so got the impression that it may be a nice place to eat. But we are proven wrong very quickly... :(

Salad is so-so. Ask Jebsen for more info. Haha!

Unagi spaghetti sucks. The unagi pieces are so thin and has got the not-fresh fish taste. Yucks... In Hokkien we called it "chau cho". Hahaha!

My scallop + prawn pizza on the other hand is acceptable. The thin crust is filled with alot of cheese which is yum yummmm. But the scallop and prawn isn't that fresh and thus spoil the pizza crust.

The meal is expensive too! Total bill of RM80++. Will not go again, and will not recommend any of the food there.

Ramen Ton Chan, Wisma Cosway

To look for my Fremantle ramen, I went to Ramen Ton Chan at Wisma Cosway for a try-out. You would not believe that there is a good Japanese restaurant in this building because it looked like it is kinda torn down, and only has those old shops in it.

We have difficulties finding this restaurant, and would have to walk thru some dark alley to find it. Upon entering the restaurant, there is this very Japanese feel because the customers is actually smoking inside. And only true Japanese would do that. Hahahaha!

But really... what is more Japanese than a ramen shop that has all sort of Japanese magazine in it, and all the customers are speaking some foreign language which I could not make any sense of? The waitresses can also speak a little bit Japanese due to their frequent Jap customers.

A very nice authentic Japan ambiance. And a photo of the Japanese guys who is polluting the air... :P

The appetizer is actually a macaroni with some olove oil (I guess because it does not have much taste in it). Vince ordered unagi with rice which is nice but uhm... nothing special about it?

The gyoza is nice, but a has a little bit more garlic taste which is not to my liking.

The ramen however... is marvelous!!! The soup is so flavorful and you can taste the pork broth that have been boiled for hours!!! To make my dinner more enjoyable, I would actually hope that they put more ingredients in the ramen, because it only have 2 slices of charsiu (pork) and a half 3/4 boiled egg. Nothing more, nothing less.

The pricing however would be a little bit more on the upper side if compared to Mai Ramen. My bowl of ramen is RM23++. And I forgotten about the rest... haha!

If I am anywhere near Pavilion KL, I will drop by at this place again.

Mai Ramen, Jaya One

In my hunt for a good ramen, my first source is to check on KY's review! There are several places which he have tried and gave his review. And one of it is Mai Ramen at Jaya One that had earned quite good comment from him.

Two weeks ago I "forced" Barry to try it out with me. While enjoying my ramen, I told him "I'm getting near to that taste.. the ramen that I'm searching for".

Last weekend I went there again, and here comes my review! ;)

I ordered Ramen and Unagi set that comes with a tuna salad, 3 piees of gyoza, and green tea.

Reason being for ordering the same thing on both my visit is that I enjoyed the plain ramen with thick broth which is a decent meal for me. The soup is best when insert the pickles, which is a little bit on the spicy side. Inside the soup, you may find a 3/4 boiled egg, pieces of chasiu (pork) and vegetables.

Whats more in the set is to have my favourite unagi as a side dish. What I love about the unagi is that the fish is thick and soft. Furthermore, it does not have that small bones poking out when I bite on it. And the sweet gravy compliments the whole thing!

The fried gyoza is not too oily, and the filing is just nice.

I also ordered ULTRAraMen which is a super big bowl of ramen with everything in it! What I mean by EVERYTHING is... charsiu pork, a perfectly done 3/4 boiled egg, 2 pieces of gyoza, prawns, chunks of pork meat, and many more...

It was a very filing lunch. And they gave us complimentary ice-cream too. It is some sort of shaved ice cream with peanut topping. It is claimed to be preservative-free.

The food here is very reasonable. The ramen with unagi set is RM28 while the big bowl of ULTRAraMEN is RM19.00 (promo during anniversary). Do look out for their 50% discount promo in month of August! It is not applicable for unagi dishes though. Click "like" on Mai Ramen Cafe in Facebook and you will get all the updates on the promo they have.

Although I enjoyed ramen here, it still could not beat the one I had in Fremantle. But I will definitely go to Mai Ramen again when my Japanese craving comes...

My love for ramen starts at Dusukoi, Fremantle Market, Western Australia

Ever since I tried an authentic bowl of hot ramen at Dusukoi Japanese Noodle and Bubble Tea in Fremantle WA in 2010, I was so deeply in love with this Japanese noodles. My cousins who have been raised in Perth brought me there before I fly back to Malaysia. It is entirely their fault for creating this crazy ramen craving in me now!!!

There are limited seats at this small little kiosk in Fremantle market. When we went there, the Japanese lady boss asked us to leave our number and she will call us once there are seats. So we walked around while waiting for the call, which came after 30 minutes. Believe me, it is worth the wait!

There are so many type of ramen to choose from! Mostly differs by the topping.. such as fried chicken, prawn dumpling, tempura, pork slices and many more!

This is my bowl of ramen with Japanese fried chicken. The ramen soup broth is soooo heavenly. It is thick and so flavorful!!! I can still remember the taste of it...

Thompson had a bowl of ramen with extra noodles, and yet finishes it till the last drop! That's how good it is!!!

When I came back to Malaysia, I kept looking for the same ramen, but is always disappointed to find that it is not even near to the taste.

I have also googled this place and the reviews are very good!

My wish now is to have a private jet to bring me to Fremantle every weekend to savour that bowl of noodles again!

Hing Ket Grill House, Kampung Jawa, Klang

Today there were a total of 10 of us hunting for food, in conjunction with a birthday celebration.. well, without a cake.

We went to Hing Ket Grill House at Kampung Jawa. This place is very popular not only among Klang people, but also food hunters from KL and other places. I have just found out that my food idol KY came all the way from PJ to this restaurant too! ;)

Since there were so many of us, we ordered a total of 9 dishes...

1) Grilled crab
2) Grilled prawns
3) Grilled squids
4) Grilled sting ray
5) Grilled lamb chop
6) Steamed lala
7) Vegetables
8) Fried glass noodles
9) Fried mee suah

The crab was grilled to perfection, and what I love most is the egg... I don't really know how to describe that type of egg where it is kinda soft and bitter. Just love it! All these grilled seafood does not need any salt or flavoring because it is so fresh! I love the prawn and string ray too!

The grilled squids and steamed lala on the other hand is just okay for me.

The grilled lamb chop is however, is a MUST if you come to Hing Ket Grill House! It is very tender and juicy, and is best accompanied with the mint sauce. Love love love it!!!

This dinner is one of the most enjoyable meal I had for the past 1 month. The only thing I regret though, is that I did not bring my camera along!!!

Anyhow, try Google Hing Ket and you can see plenty of people talking about it and photos of the food is widely accessible!

TNB - Tengah Nak Berubah

It's almost 2am and I'm still online!

Gotta wake up at 6am later for my morning jog.

Today something very surprising happened. Thunderstorm causes my house electricity to trip. That's not the shocking part.

The climax is that... we called TNB at 15454 and the operator said the technician will be coming over within 1 - 2 hours. And looking at how our service provider (government) is working, we have the impression that 1 -2 hours actually means "you slowly wait lah.. at least also 3-4 hours lo...".

But then to our surprise, the technician came to our house within 30 minutes!!! They were friendly, and helpful! Fixed our problem quickly, without charge, and 3 hours later, MADE A FOLLOW-UP CALL WITH US!!!! Asked if everything is okay.... (WOW!!!)

Probably voting season is coming and this is just another strategy to gain more votes for BN.

Whatever it is, my family is happy to be served today.

Time to sleep.. else I'll jog / walk like a zombie later.

Work sucks and I really miss my buddies!!!

With every day, week, month and year passes by, there come some changes too.

One year ago, I was very excited to work. Eyes glittering thinking how much satisfaction I would have by spending 8 hours of productive day at work. My previous job does not give me the luxury of doing things independently; instead I'm left with unused hours that made me feel useless and unproductive. So I was very happy to actually have a job to keep me busy.

One year passes by, and now I'm dreading to work every morning. The pressure of having to force contractors to complete their work within the given time, pushing people to do their job so that I could do mine, and to stay 8 hours in an environment which I am not happy about.... is stressing me out.

How I misses college time where I get to work on assignments with my friends. Although times are tough and we need to burn midnight oil, we get to laugh and go crazy, and yet still finish the job and get really good grades!

Sometimes the quality of our work depends on the process. The more we enjoy the process, the better the results are, and vice versa. As for now, I kinda hate the process, the environment, and yet still struggling to maintain the quality.

I miss the times I once had with my buddies... I miss all of you!!! :(

YOU FREAKIN' PIG!!!

Stress causes gastric. It's true. Gastric from improper eating habit is uncertain to happen, but stress causes gastric, that is certain! (at least for me)

I am not feeling well now. There seemed to be needles poking on my stomach from inside. Kept thinking if I skipped any meal today but I didn't. In fact I had donut and Loackers chocolate waffle as snacks after lunch.

Then it hit me! I am blardey stressed now! No wonder gastric coming!!!

I was grumbling about a f*cked up person just now. We all who knows him, clearly understand that he is rude, disrespectful, likes raising up his voice while talking to others to dominate the situation, egoistic and just like a Cantonese saying "got him talk, no other ppl talk". Cant believe I uses so many adjectives on him! And this is not the first time he pisses me off!!!

Well, he kinda make me day worst by shouting, uses hurtful and disrespectful words.... And slam it all to me!!!

What I do when he was acting like a crazy PIG is that I just say whatever I needed to say to defend myself, and continue to do my stuff while he was shouting away himself! That PIG (wanted to call him son-of-a-bitch but I decided not to get his mother involved in this) does not deserve any of my attention nor respect! The only thing he deserve is a full-page-bitching in my BLOG!!!

Someone asked if he feel bad after treating people around him so badly?!!! Or probably apologizing after showing his temper?

My answer was obvious ---CAN A PIG HAVE A FEELING OF REMORSE?!!! No f*cking way right?!!!

THIS IS HOW ONE CRAZY, UGLY, F*CKED UP PIG LOOK LIKE!!!

.......... Luckily I get to take my dinner early before gastric strikes! Otherwise with the stress he has given me, gastric would definitely ruin the rest of my evening!

Arghhhh!!!!

Memang best!

Had an amazing weekend!

Well, Saturday isn't that great because I worked like a mad cow. But Sunday memang best lahh!!! (a better version of Myvi Lagi Best).

Here's the bits of my Sunday...


Approx 10.30am - arrival at Strawberry Park, Gohtong Jaya

I was hoping that the strawberry park could be more lively. There are hardly red ripe strawberries and those that are red and ripe looked odd!

This place promotes self-pick strawberries which are RM6 for every 100gram. And when I say 100gram, trust me, it's not alot!

And those who wants to self-pick, was given a small basket and scissors. Looking at those excited faces, I kinda feel pity for those poor fellas as I bet they would have to walk like 10 rounds in the park and yet could not find enough strawberries that could weigh 100gram. Muahahaa~ *evil grin*

Approx 12.30am - Arrival at BBQ Bukit Tinggi Restaurant

This restaurant is the sole reason of Gavin and I initiate this trip! Azlan, Vivenn, Rachel & Jack had been to this restaurant. We saw their photos in FB featuring steam seafood and we eventually persuaded them to bring us there.



These food has got really weird names. Vegetable rice, seafood pot (hoi sin bou) and snow mountain flying fox (shuet san fei wu)!



Tofu egg, chicken f*ck the wall, and lamb. Seriously.. I didn't make that up! The chicken f*ck the wall is how it is directly directed from Cantonese "kai tiu cheong". The tofu and lamb has got their names too but I forgotten cause I'm partially a 'banana'.

Vivenn wanted to order one of their specialty called "sor hai" --> (no I'm not joking), but the waiter said that the dish is not available on that day because they are lacking of cook and so ordered something more simple.

The owner of this restaurant is very "pa pai". Although there are more people coming into the restaurant, the owner and staffs (who has their hands all tied up due to the crowd), will just let the customers sit down, wait, and finally tell them off "sorry we are not serving anymore, you may leave".

WOW!

Yet, there are still alot of people going to the restaurant that serves many more interesting food accompanied by attractive names (most of it sound like Chinese proverb or extracted from a Chinese movie or something).

Price : Total damage for 7 pax is RM350.

This place is quite hard to find for first timers as there are no signage. Just go pass by Selesa Hill Homes, through the tunnel, and look for the BHP just after the tunnel. The Restaurant is located just behind the BHP.


Approx 3.00p.m - Arrival at FLORIA 2011 (Putrajaya Flower & Garden Festival)

I was amused by the size of this festival! And am quite impressed that Malaysia landscapers achieved this standard of gardening. But those who visit this festival on day 3 onwards may find if disappointing as flowers may starts dying already.... haha!

It was my first time there.. and I asked them if I have to do the "turtle walk" since I'm considered a jungle turtle. Hehehehe... Took a light dinner and we then head to our respective home-sweet-home after a long day!!!

Needless to say, we all had hell of a great time! Those bunch friends are fun to be with.. and what a great laughter we had throughout the day!

Previously when I broke my shade, I had this crazy thought of buying Tiffany&Co sunglass which cost more than RM1k.. Glad I didn't go with it..

I have given up from Tiffany&Co because it is too costly. Went to Mines Shopping Mall instead, and visited Evolution Optical where Vince worked before. Tried a few sunglasses and finally chose one from GUESS. It is half the price of Tiffany&Co but I got an awesoommeee discount from Vince ex-colleague! It was superb and it is exactly why I had to go all the way from Klang to Mines just to get ma shade... :)

Being a cam whore is not usually me. I just so happened to download some new photography app in my iPod and ta-daa~ the outcome turns out to be kinda cool!
