Following to the dinner at Three Little Pigs and The Big Bad Wolf
we made another first-time visit to Coffee Mania
which is just a stone throw away from Bangsar Village.

Coffee Mania brave entry to Bangsar which is now dominated by Coffea Coffee
is definitely an admirable move and I ought to try it out!

It was a very quick change of mind when I was left unconvincing
upon entering the quiet outlet.
There wasn't much patron compared to other busy neighboring outlets.
Does it mean that it's not good?

Flipping though their extensive menu,
I was greatly surprised that affogato is NOT in the list!

NOW IT REALLY IS A GOOD TIME GO "WHHAAATTTT!!!"

whhaaaatt

Being astounded by this,
I asked the waiter if they have vanilla ice-cream at all.
Confirming that it is a yes, I ordered double shot of espresso
and a single scoop of vanilla ice-cream.

The espresso tasted good but the vanilla ice-cream melted
before I could take a perfect scoop of it.

The dinner-mate ordered himself a Kopi Luwak, which is widely known as
the "cat shit coffee" - well, that's the disgusting way to put it.

In a more informative way, civet cats (luwak) loves coffee beans and they
picked only the finest coffee beans to eat, which is then excreted in
a partially digested formand the farmers would collect
the feces from the ground for roasting

A cup of luwak coffee cost RM40.00 in Coffee Mania.
Looking at the processes involved, and the fact that it
is "specially made" by the cats, we deemed it is reasonable.

The dinner-mate tasted it and it was too light in body.
One unforgettable comment was "Kopitiam kopi-o taste better".

The best month of the year is always N.O.V.E.M.B.E.R.

Why?
It's my birthday month!

So what?
I get to celebrate!

Then?
There's plenty of birthday treats.... food for me.. for freeeeee!!! Yippiieeeee!!!

The G3 Kitchen & Bar is the very first stop of my birthday treats/
Brought by Vince, I was told that they serve pretty good breakfast.

So here goes...

A healthy person picked a healthy cup of juice consisting of orange + ginger.
An odd combination and but the heck, it tasted just fine and refreshing.

bangsar popular food outlet eatery
Healthy juice - RM12

Vince got himself a typical breakfast drink - cappuccino
I wouldn't say that it's great, and it tasted just like an average cappuccino.
Probably they should have add a little more hint of coffee in there.

bangsar popular food outlet eatery
Cappuccino - RM9

For starters, we ordered grilled scallops with orange and carrot salad.
For a RM26 starter, we were served two huge scallops and it were fresh and juicy.
Love the unique combination of salad with a slight taste of fruit dressing.

The scrambled eggs with salmon however, was a disappointment.
The eggs tasted bland. And the existence of salmon was almost unnoticeable on that dish.
The only consolation for me is the hash brown, which wouldn't have gone wrong.

Scrambled eggs with salmon - forgotten the price.

When Vince ordered the Spiced Lamb Burger with Tazaki, Feta and Fries
I was thinking "why larhhhh?".
I wasn't impressed by my first try of lamb burger at Antipodean, and it
somehow left me uninterested to try it again.
I was lucky as G3 shed a whole new light about lamb burger.
The patty was thick and not too dry. Love the little spiciness in it too!

This place is probably another eatery that I may want to try again.
There are also a whole list of wine selection and amazing wine display for one to choose!

A quick verdict for G3

Ambiance - 8/10 (Service was good and it's a comfy place)
Food - 6/10 (Scrambled screw it up, sorry)
Price - 6/10 (A little to the high side, especially for the starter)

joyce yap blog joycelifebits
Yee-haaaa!
A photo of the recent me to greet ya'all !!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tried Levain and lovin' it?
But after a few trips, thought it may be too far for a breakie?
Or even for a good tea?

You may be happy to hear that there's a nice bakery nearby
that truly resembles Levain in so many ways.

Yeah I called it "bakery", a term that everyone undestands.. unlike
the "Boulangerie & Pâtisserie" that always got my tongue twisted.

This place is called Shakespeare Boulangerie & Pâtisserie and
it is located just at the corner of SS15 at Subang Jaya.

And it was Vince's brilliant idea to introduce me
to this place that may get me hooked!

Shakespeare Boulangerie & Pâtisserie
Shakespeare... a fine place of where bread and coffee comes together in an art.
Soweeyy.. came that out myself, was too carried away..

Walking around the bread and pastries area,
I can't help but thinking that I'm in Levain.

The food & beverages menu, especially the breads,
are almost 90% similar with what Levain is offering.

The cakes looks very tempting as it comes in
special shapes and sizes, and even colors!

They were practically begging me to eat em!!!!
I wish I've taken a few photos that time....

But since we went there for breakfast, we ordered something light.
Sorry cakes, I'll have you some other time! ;)

Vince had a good old Cappucino at RM6.50.
It was a decent cup of coffee with simple art, nothing fancy.

Shakespeare Boulangerie & Pâtisserie

With my usual liking for eggs, I ordered Scrabled Egg Crossaint (RM 8.80).
The soft and warm crossaint is stuffed
with scrambled eggs and a slice of chicken ham.
It comes with a side salad too.

It was pretty good - they are very generous with the scrambed eggs for sure!

This is one of the good scramble egg crossaint that I've tried,
and this includes ones at Pacific Coffee, which is my FAVOURITE!!!

Shakespeare Boulangerie & Pâtisserie

Vince wanted to have aglop-olio but the pasta selection
is only available 11am onwards. Since we're early,
only the breakfast selection is available (8am  10.45am).

So he had the Big Breakfast (RM 12.50).
It comes with toast bread, chicken ham, sausages,
grilled mushrooms, scrambled eggs and a side salad as well.

It's yummy, but nothing to shout about, really, coz I would prefer ones in
Marmalade Cafe @ Bangsar Village for their big breakfast.

Shakespeare Boulangerie & Pâtisserie

Overall, Shakespeare will be one of my top choices
when I have American cravings to fulfill..

Am glad to be introduced to this great place.

yummylicious!

I'm back guys!

Believe it or not, I have 9 drafts of blog post.
All needed some penning before I could post it up.

Another random post here.
Since recently I've been busy eating from Klang to PJ to KL, even to Penang,
thought of posting some good photos up (altho some may have seen in my FB).

Simple yet yummy lunch around my office area.

Momento Cafe.

Operated by young owners - who happened to be staying at Eco Park.

They serve good coffee. This round we ordered cappuccino. Not bad actually.

Seafood pasta was delicious. Fresh ingredients. We enjoyed every bit of it!

Chicken pie with mashed potatoes was aweeesome!
The crust is thin with very satisfying fillings.
Mashed potato sauce however, urmm... tasted like it's from
the Maggi mashed potato pack or something?

We also ordered ourselves from peperoni pizza. Cheezy - me likey!
Shouldn't have it at the first place.
But what the heck. Hantam aje - the usual devil's line.

Since eating have been my one and only professional hobby now,
I guess there's more reason to exercise!

To those who commented that I'm lucky coz I get
to stay fit although I've been eating mad,
you are soooo... wrong!

Photo below taken after my 3 hours hike at Gunung Gasing.
I do work out, see?!!

And I've been gaining weight yoooo!!!

Going to get ready for my badminton session now...
( see see see.....)

Cheerssss!!!

Ventured into a new place that is popular among the coffee enthusiasts - like Chriz!

She advertised not only the coffee there, but claimed that
Brew & Bread serves one of the best Egg Benedict ever!

We went to witness ourselves how good that place is,
right after climbing up 272 stairs at Batu Caves.
(photos up soon from Chriz DSLR and my Canon compact)

Brew & Bread photo taken online

It took us two hours from Batu Caves to Kota Kemuning due to bad jam caused by overturned bus.
Kan cheong thinking "are we gonna make it for the breakfast menu???!!!"

Arrived at noon.

So relieved when the waitress said "Yes we still serve breakfast...."

FYI, it's a "All Day Brunch",
so yes, you can sleep in,
and still have breakfast / brunch here anytime of the day...

We were greeted by the smell of fresh coffee and breads when we walked in,
I'm loving the place already just by the smell of it.

Not to mention the comfy, cozy, cooling ambience.
------------------------------

Since we are at Brew & Bread, we need to get something that are brewed, isn't it?

Chriz as usual with her Caramel Latte,
Delvise had Mocha and
Vince had Ice Blended Rocky Road.

They all said that they enjoyed their drinks.

When I was thinking about coffee or non-coffee,
something caught my eye - ANGRY BIRD!
So I asked the waitress - what's this Angry Bird thingy?!

It's a Hot Choco apparently.

But with my child-like excitement seeing Angry Bird on a cup of coffee,
she said I could order anything - and she'll make me an Angry Bird on it!

Voilaaaa!!!

Wanted to get a Chilled-Mint Mocha but it's a
cold beverage - not Angry Bird friendly.
I need something piping hot to make that bird angry!

SWT.

Hot choco then.

From the look to the taste, I enjoyed every sip of it.
The hot choco is thick and filling - and not too sweet.
This Angry Bird ain't that angry afterall. Tee-hee!

angry bird coffee art

--------------------------------------

As per Chriz recommendation, we ordered the Eggs Benedict
which comprises of the must-have-poached eggs, ham,
topped with hollandaise sauce which is the emulsion of egg yolk and liquid butter,
all on top of a soft but crispy ciabatta,
and garnished with sides of fruits, roma tomatoes and potato wedges cubes.

I like to see runny yolks when I break poached eggs... slurp slurpppyy!
The toasted ciabatta goes so well with the eggs and ham - simple, very traditional, I love it!

eggs benedict at its best
Brew & Bread eggs benedict

I love eggs... and mushrooomsss.. especially wild mushrooms!
So when I see the Mush Eggs in the menu,
(omelet wrapped with wild mushrooms in cream sauce),
I just gotta have it!

Prolly I have higher expectation in this dish that I felt fairly disappointed,
there wasn't many mushroom to be found in that piece big of omelet.
But there are small bits of mushroom found the sauce, which made the sauce thick and flavorful.

Not bad - but I wish there's more mushroom since it's called the Mush Eggs! :)

Brew & Bread mush egg (wild mushroom omelette)

Vince ordered French Toast with Blueberry Jam
which is pretty normal. I would expect the bread to taste more eggy,
and maybe with some brown sugar to sweeten it a lil bit.

The Chicken Roulade on the other hand was surprisingly tasty!
It is chicken thigh rolled with stuffing, coated with black and white sesame,
brown sauce, pumpkin mash, olive oil infused basil and parsley dip.

The description up there was taken from the menu,
but it doesn't really match what we got that day,
nevertheless, I love that the chicken is tasty by itself,
and when topped with the brown sauce and lots of cooked onions,
it tasted whole lot better! Sedap niee!!!

------------------------------------------------------------

We were pretty full when Vince insisted that we should have desserts.

Dessert at Brew & Bread varies from cakes, muffins, freshly baked pastries, and more.
Most of the selection comes in RM 7 per piece
(which is pricey looking at the size of the dessert),

... and with promo now which is two pieces for RM12, and 3 pieces for RM16,
Vince went for trio-dessert which to my dismay is only visually appealing,
and not up to par.

The tiramisu is spongy and dry - like sponge cake.
Luckily the taste is not as bad as the texture.
With the texture and taste combined of a total point,
I'll only give it a score of 2.5 / 5.0.

Brew & Bread Kota Kemuning tiramisu
Brew & Bread tiramisu

Yoghurt Cheese tasted oo-kay ONLY IF you take
the light cream cheese and yoghurt alone,
but the cookies crunch bed base is soggy, and tasted like crap.
Brew & Bread, you can do better!!!

yoghurt cheese cake
Brew & Bread yoghurt cheese

The All-Chocolate Muffin is better, but NOT aweee-some.
With chunks of chocolate on top, we thought "YUHMMM, this is gonna be sooo chocolatey!"

I love muffins that are moist, but at the same time, with crunchy top.

Break the muffin into half, saw that the chocolate inside is completely molten.
Good sign.
Taste it, love the texture, crunchy outside, moist inside.

But the taste...  it's not chocolatey enough as claimed.
Tasted like an average muffin.

trip desserts

Despite the desserts, I still love their food, and would love to go there again!

I'm keen to try out their pastries, which is gonna be prepared upon order.
Alex Choo (cousin) said that Brew & Bread sandwiches are good too!
Well I might as well....

This is the 3rd blog for the past 24 hours!!!
I'm in a blogging spreeee!!!

If you're wondering, no, I'm not overdosed with coffee.

But it has been days that an important piece of technology
called the PC is absent in my home.

And now that I've got my office laptop at home,
I have the luxury of fully utilizing it for my own pleasure and leisure.

And so.. blogging it is!

--------------------------------------------

Few months back I purchased Groupon vouchers for
dinner at Coffee Chemistry, First Subang Mall.

Groupon Deal:-

"[Up to 53% Off] 2-Course Western Meal: Grilled Salmon Steak,
Classic Roasted Lamb Shoulder, OR More + Dessert at Coffee Chemistry Signature, First Subang Mall for 1 (RM22) / 2 (RM40) / 4 (RM76) People."

Coffee Chemistry Signature at First Subang Mall

The purchase is with intention to create an
opportunity to have a nice dinner with my closest friends.

But I was way busy with coping with life till I forgotten about it.
Finally set the dinner on the very last day of redemption period.

Highest gratitude to friends who manage to leave work early and
squeeze some time out of their busy schedule just for me.

Coffee Chemistry cappuccino
Barry ordered a cappuccino which was okay, he said.
Nothing spectacular to my dismay.

Coffee Chemistry rose cappuccino
My eyes was affixed on the coffee section when I saw this.
Rose cappuccino?!!
I gotta try this!!!

Was eager to try but the excitement quickly turned into
disappointment coz it tasted like bandung.
Rose syrup flavor has covered any little possibly imagined
coffee taste in that cup of cappuccino.

Coffee Chemistry chocolate ice blended
Vince with his usual love for chocolate, ordered
ice-blended chocolate with ice cream.

He's not that picky, and he finished the drink.
Good, I guess?

Coffee Chemistry grilled salmon steak
This is my 180g grilled salmon steak served with mashed potato and vegetables.

My salmon was well prepared, but the lemon sauce that comes with
it tasted like an odd pairing.

With the salmon already fresh and nicely grilled, perhaps they need
a more subtle sauce to let the salmon "shine" instead of Mr. Lemon here
taking the credit all by itself with its tingling lemony flavor?

Coffee Chemistry classic roasted lamb shoulder
Vince's 130g classic roasted lamb shoulder served with mashed potato and vegetables.

The lamb is soft and the thick gravy is delicious!
No complaint on this... yum yummm...

Coffee Chemistry seafood pasta
Barry's seafood pasta consist of mussels, prawns, squids and fish.

Aside from the fresh seafood and creamy sauce,
one thing that I'd like to highlight here is that the heavy
usage of capsicum makes it the dominant taste in this pasta.
Lesser or maybe no capsicum at all would be better.

Coffee Chemistry fish & chips
Alicia's Coffee Chemistry Fish & Chips with side salad.

I did not try the fish fillet as I'm trying to avoid fried food for my sorethroat.
Alicia says it's nice. So I'll take her word for it.
Side salad on the other hand was entirely mine.
Finished it, nice light dressing.

affogato
Coffee Chemistry affogato
Our Affogato (Espresso topped with vanilla ice-cream)

Concentrated coffee with ice cream - superyummylicious!
I love the dessert and finished it, and with the rose cappuccino I had earlier,
those two kept me awake till 2am that very night!

brownies and ice cream
Coffee Chemistry brownies and ice cream
Brownies and ice-cream

Ain't that good.
Brownies ought to be soft and chocolaty.
Best when it's warm. (personal preference)
These brownies are kinda hard, and I didn't go yuhhmm nor licking my spoon after!

Overall, this is a pretty good deal from Groupon.
The serving is just nice.
None of us were overloaded from the dinner.

yummylicious! ;)

 Oh no.. it's almost 3am!!!
I've got a facial appointment tomorrow, plus cake collection,
plus a wedding dinner and then rush to dad's 71st birthday dinner!!!

Plenty of things to do, so little time to get it done!!!
